Heartbug ECG Event Monitor

Note: Unlike a 24 Hour ECG Monitor, Heartbug test runs for 2-4 weeks.

The HeartBug ECG Event Monitor is a specialised tool that tracks your heart's activity for up to 28 days, offering your doctor valuable data to analyse

Your physician may recommend the HeartBug ECG Event Monitor for various reasons related to your heart health. Here's why:

  1. Extended Monitoring: It provides continuous monitoring for up to 28 days, offering a more extended view of your heart's activity.
  2. Versatility: It serves as a middle ground between standard Holter monitors and implantable loop recorders, giving you an extended but non-invasive monitoring solution.
  3. Symptom Recording: If you experience symptoms like dizziness or fainting, the device has a feature to manually record these events, correlating symptoms with heart patterns.
  4. Post-Stroke Monitoring: For those who've experienced a stroke or TIA, the HeartBug can help identify potential Atrial Fibrillation or other heart conditions.

During the Test:

Upon your arrival, our trained technician will:

  1. Place the stickers of the device at the appropriate locations on your chest.
  2. Connect the device to these stickers to capture your heart's activity.
  3. Guide you through the process of syncing and connecting your phone to the HeartBug app, ensuring seamless communication between the two.
  4. Once everything is set up, you are free to resume your regular activities. However, always use the app to record any unusual heart sensations.

Living with the HeartBug:

With the device in place, you can continue with most of your daily routines. Just remember to keep the device away from water. If you experience any unusual heart sensations, use the app to log them.

Risks:

While using the HeartBug:

  1. Skin Sensitivity: Some people may experience skin irritation from the stickers. If this occurs, you can slightly adjust the sticker's position or use a recommended over-the-counter cream to alleviate discomfort.
  2. Water Exposure: While the HeartBug can handle short exposures to water, like showers, it should not be submerged in water, such as during swimming.

(This test will take up to 15-30 minutes)

Before your HeartBug fitting:

  1. Cleanliness: Please take a shower before your appointment as you'll need to keep the device dry once it's on.
  2. Clear Skin: Avoid using lotions or creams in the area where the device will be placed to ensure optimal adhesion.
  3. Smartphone Access: Please bring a smartphone, either iPhone or Android. This will be essential for tracking your heart data through the HeartBug app.
